How I miss our pets who have died

How I miss our pets who have died.  They had, so to speak, no metaphysical holes in themselves and, unlike us, were totally just the persons who they were.  Especially the Doge, a leaping and laughing and uproariously rampaging standard black poodle of extraordinary beauty and grace,  who was so up for life one almost caught glimpses of a greater happiness we might have, if only we were so determined not to have it, like catching the measles.
