As humanity has done from time immemorial – for this is why they have entered deep caves and erected so many cromlechs, megaliths, temples, churches and cathedrals to celebrate it – I hear divine voices in wild geese crying as they fly overhead, rain pattering on roofs, waves lapping with a low sound on the shore, bees humming contentedly in a hive. And when I seek to meet each day in the chamber of my heart the source of all this I find myself trembling with joy. Illusion? Maybe. But this is too wonderful. I don’t care what atheists say for how do they know? No use playing music to the deaf.
