It was a mistake

It was a mistake. Brexit isn’t working out too well and small wonder.  The 2016 referendum was conducted in an atmosphere of hysteria whipped up by the tabloids,  We were lied to by Boris and reason was undermined by the underhand Cambridge Analytica tactics employed by  Cummings. For four years before we left YouGov was showing a clear and consistent lead for remain. But we were denied a second referendum by a Government that clearly had no interest in what the people really wanted. 25,000 nurses have left the NHS which could well collapse.  `There is now a grave danger that Scotland and Ireland will want to leave the UK, all brought about by Brexit.  Do you really think little England could  be the great global trading power we were supposed to become, but rather a poor, sad and widely ridiculed little offshore island?  We should at least, calmly this time, consider the possibility. It has made the cost of living crisis even worse.   The only major trade deal of any significance  we have made that we could not have made if we were still in the EU is the one with Australia, and that could  bring about the demise of traditional British farming.  It was a dreadful mistake.  Can we now have a second referendum please – if the EU will still have us and they may well not.  There is a general mood that says we made our bed so now we must make the best of it.  That is an even bigger mistake.  If you are going in the wrong direction turn round before you fall off a cliff.
