My Lord and my God

If David Hume had been in the room
Wearing head most philosophical
When Christ appeared to doubting Thomas
And Thomas put his fingers in the wounds
And said ‘I believe! My lord and God!’

Would Hume have thought ‘Well this is odd
I doubt no longer, for this is proof empirical
All dubiety dilemma and demur abating
Now I know I am hallucinating’.
