How people who fear they might lose some money throw fluff in your eyes.  The CEO of Shell says we must take climate change very seriously, so seriously we must aim at zero carbon emissions by the end of the century.  But this will be far too late.  We need to aim at zero by 2050.   In 2012 scientists calculated we can afford to burn another 565 gigatonnes of carbon (less  now of course) and since we are currently burning about 30Gt a year that gives us about twenty years to save the planet.  What he really means is the end of the century is so far away Shell can go on selling as much oil as possible for now.   Anyway, he points out the oil will all  be used up by the end of the century.  so what will Shell do then?   Why, he confidently predicts, it will go into renewables.
