Is it really credible that within the space of four million or at most six million years, the blink of an eye in evolutionary terms,  a creature as different as ourselves from the proto-chimpanzee that was the ancestor of us both, could have developed simply through the normal processes  of natural selection?  Science can only tell us what it can tell us.  It cannot tell us, very properly, whether there were other processes involved of which, by definition, it cannot tell us.   Science never said it could tell us everything, although there are plenty of people who so misunderstand it as to think that it can.
