Reading George Soros’s The Crisis of Global Capitalism with great profit. Reflexivity and the individual encumbered by fallibility are marvellous concepts. Indeed, I think I might add it to my personal list of great books: Adam Smith’s Theory of Moral Sentiments, Christopher Bollas’s Being a Person, Kant’s Critique of Judgment, Ted Hughes, Birthday Letters. Would add Proust except it’s too long and I get becalmed for hundreds of pages and Wuthering Heights except I can’t quite take all that it’s grim up north stuff. Shakespeare of course but then that’s like saying I like breathing air.
